PRS for Music Partners with Soundtrack

Source: Music Business Worldwide · October 28, 2026

PRS for Music has partnered with business music streaming service Soundtrack to bring play-by-play data on the music played in UK shops, bars, and public spaces into its royalty distributions, as reported by Music Business Worldwide. This partnership will provide data showing which tracks are played across around 7,000 premises that use Soundtrack’s platform.

The UK collection society will begin incorporating this data into royalty payments to songwriters, composers, and music publishers from December 2026. This move expands the society’s existing work with background music providers and increases the accuracy of the usage information it collects.

Businesses that use Soundtrack include Ole & Steen, Uniqlo, Dr. Martens, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Kiehl’s, Joe & The Juice, and TAG Heuer. The partnership is another important step toward making PRS's distributions reflect the music that people are really listening to.

This partnership matters to listeners because it will help ensure that songwriters and composers are paid accurately and quickly for their work, making it possible for them to continue creating the music we enjoy.
