Stephen Steinbrink Releases New Single

Stephen Steinbrink, an Oakland singer-songwriter and visual artist, is releasing his new album In A Split Mirror at the end of the week, as reported by Stereogum.

The album's latest single, 'I'm A Swimming Pool,' has been shared ahead of the full release, along with a colorful animated music video created by Steinbrink himself.

The music video for 'I'm A Swimming Pool' features a unique animation style, with Steinbrink collaging together photographs he's taken over the years with other external images to create 'little phantasmagorical tableaus.',

Steinbrink's inspiration for 'I'm A Swimming Pool' comes from his childhood experiences swimming in his friend's pool in Arizona, where he would try to create as little rippling in the water as possible to achieve a feeling of weightlessness.

In A Split Mirror will be released on October 30 via Sedimentary Archive/Mansions And Millions, and is available for pre-order now. This new album matters to listeners because it offers a chance to experience Steinbrink's meditative and gently rippling soundscapes.
