Macklemore has launched his Free Palestine tour in Dublin, as reported by Rolling Stone. The tour kicked off on October 26 with special guest appearances from Hozier, Kneecap, and Boega, Ed Sheeran's former backing band.
The lineup for the event included Palestinian singer-songwriter Lina Makoul, rapper M-1 of Dead Prez, and DJ Habibeats, a Palestinian-American DJ and producer. Guest speakers such as Irish actor Liam Cunningham and activist Nadia Greenspan also addressed the crowd.
Proceeds from the tour will benefit organizations supporting the Palestinian movement, including Medical Aid for Palestinians and the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. The sold-out tour will continue in Paris on October 29 and London on October 30.
The tour comes after Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour for making statements in support of Palestinians. This initiative matters to listeners because it showcases artists using their platforms to raise awareness and funds for important social causes.
